Family pictures

We decided it would be a good idea to have some family pictures done. I recently ran into an old friend and I saw her work with photography and I knew she was perfect to take our pictures.

The kids had so much fun playing at the park. I was so glad the pictures show them having fun and just being themselves!

I felt bad for Tyson because he had a fever and we made him go get his pictures taken. It took him a little while to warm up, but eventually his happy self came out. It's great to have pictures of our family enjoying each others company and having a good time!

Playtime FUN!

This weekend we spent a lot of time playing together as a family. On Saturday, we took the kids to an indoor play place called Rafikki. The kids had so much fun. They got to play in a big climbing gym that had balls and slides. Tyson probably went down the slide 30 times, he couldn't get enough of it. Emma on the other hand, went down once and got so freaked out she wouldn't go down again. Tyson is our brave one! They also got to play air hockey, which they have never done before. They did really well, it was cute to watch them play together. They got to spend time playing in the kitchen area preparing and "eating" food. Tyson spent a lot of time putting salt or pepper on his play food. Emma loved to serve the food and push it around in the shopping cart. They also have a dress up area. Emma found a guitar and played it while she sang all the songs she could think of. There was a mirror on the wall and she would sing to herself; it was pretty cute. The kids loved it there so much we were there before and after nap. It's great to have places where the kids can play and use their imagination. I'm sure we'll be there again soon!

My Body Hurts!

These past few weeks we have been fighting one cold after another around our house. When you ask Emma what's wrong she says "My body hurts." Try calling a doctor and telling them her body hurts, they aren't much help. I did finally get her to tell me some more details. So when she developed a fever I decided to take her in. Turns out she had an ear infection, her first. While we were at the doc I had them look at my throat. They did a quick strep test and it came back negative so they said to just try some cough drops and gargling salt water. The next morning they called and said the overnight culture came back positive for strep and I needed to start some meds. At least I should start feeling better. Then at the end of the week Tyson got a fever and we had to take him into the doc. He too had an ear infection. It turned out to be a busy, and expensive week. Hopefully we are almost done with the colds and can move into spring.

Happy Birthday Steve

Those of you who know Steve well know that he is a giver. Everything he does is for his family and he never thinks of himself. Getting him to buy himself even some socks can be a challenge. So since Steve just turned 26, I decided to plan a family outing. I got a hotel room at the Grove downtown. It had a nice view of downtown, the kids loved watching the cars and people out the window. We also walked to the Spaghetti Factory for dinner, which was fun. We then waled to Edwards theater and got some popcorn. No I'm not crazy enough to take my kids to sit through a movie, we just got the popcorn and left. Steve thought it would be a good snack, and it was. Then we spent the night and the next morning swimming. The kids love the water, which is a must in our family. The kids get to share a bed, and we have to bundle them in with blankets so they don't fall out. It is quite a sight when they are sleeping and buried in blankets. We had the whole pool to ourselves so we got to play and be as loud as we wanted. I wanted Steve to have some time where he could just enjoy himself and the family. Hopefully through this next year we can get him to do that more. Happy Birthday honey, I love you!

New Meadows

In February our family went to visit my friend Mary and her family. The live up in the mountains of New Meadows and it is beautiful. The kids got to spend time playing with her daughter Mabry. We all got to relax and enjoy Mary's great cooking. The kids and Steve also got to do some sledding while we were there. Tyson was ready from the start, since he's our little dare devil. Emma was not so sure, she had to watch a few times before she would go. The kids wanted to go again and again. On one run down Tyson and Steve were going so fast that when they hit a bump, Ty flew off the sled and landed in the snow. Tyson got a little scratched up on the snow, but he was fine. He was actually mad we made him come in and stop sledding. He will definitely keep us on our toes and he grows!

Indoor Time

Even though the weather is starting to warm up, it's been a long winter. The family has spent a lot of time inside. The kids love to do puzzles, games, and watch movies. I always said I wouldn't let my kids watch a lot of movies; but that was before I was a mother and wanted to sit down! They still love to play with all of their toys. They love to "cook" us meals; they come up with some creative combinations. It's also great to see Tyson in Emma's apron, but Steve would die if I put a picture of that up! Watching Emma do puzzles is almost amazing. She can cruise right through them in no time and doesn't even out them on the board to do them. Even though the weather has been cold this year, it has helped us warm our house with family activities.

Emma's dance recital

Emma has been a part of a dance class at the daycare for about four months. She looks forward to Tuesday every week because it's her dance class day. This week her dance class had a performance for parents. It wasn't a real big production, just some of the dances they had done over the last few months. It's a trial run for the big recital they are doing in May. I took an hour off work to watch Emma dance, but I didn't see much. She seemed to freeze everytime I looked at her. I was video taping it for daddy because he had to work. I guess our little girl gets stage fright. But it was an eye opener as to how fast they grow up. This will still be a first I will never forget, even if she didn't really get to shake her booty
